Aaliyah Daniel Haughton exploded to fame in 1994 after her album debut Age Ain't Nothing But A Numer. When she was just 15, the album achieved Gold status. The group was highly influenced by R. Kelly, and helped put her onto the scene. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland in her sophomore studio album One In A Million, featuring the number one hit song If Your Girl only Knew. The second album of Aaliyah, One in a Million, was released in 1996. It contained the number-one song, a huge hit, If Your Girl Only Knew. She was also as a character in Romeo Must Die, a action/romance film starring Jet-Li. The role was offered to her after being spotted by the film's director Joel Silver at an awards ceremony. She was a part of the Anne Rice-based vampire film Queen of the Damned, that premiered in 2002. The year 2003 saw her starred in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Aarti uses both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as professional names. She started her acting career as a minor actor in TV and film parts, however her fame increased in the mid 2000s. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She has appeared in numerous commercials for Volvo's international automobile manufacturer. The mother of her daughter resides in Los Angeles and is pursuing her acting.
